Akamai Enters into a Strategic Cloud Services Partnership Agreement with China Unicom
Akamai Technologies, the global provider of CDN and web optimization solutions and services, has established a strategic cloud services partnership with CU Cloud, the cloud division of China Unicom Corporation. CU Cloud will not only complement its own cloud services with Akamai’s full-suite of cloud and content delivery solutions, but also leverage Akamai’s CDN technology for the delivery of its own cloud services.
This collaboration will help Akamai expand it’s reach by giving it access to CU Cloud’s local expertise, network infrastructure and existing marketing and customer-base in the region.

Google Maps adds real-time public transit arrivals in three U.S. cities, U.K., Netherlands
Google Maps has added real-time public transit arrival times. The app will provide live arrivals for local buses, metro lines, and subway systems. It also provides alerts for canceled routes. The feature is rolling out in three U.S. cities — Chicago, San Francisco, and Seattle — and in a couple of new countries — the U.K. and the Netherlands. The new handy app helps you with your transit options at the top of the screen so it’s easy to know at a glance how long you’ll be waiting. Google has also announced that it’s working with more than 100 public transit agencies to provide real-time transit information.

Mozilla integrates Pocket into Firefox, updates Developer Edition with new performance tools
The company first previewed both these features last month in the Firefox beta channel for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The update’s main focus is desktop. Firefox for desktop users can now share the active tab or window in a Hello conversation, as well as save the current page in Pocket. Both features leverage Firefox Accounts, an account system that provides access to Mozilla services. The browser’s users can save all the pages they want to read or watch later without signing up separately for the service. Pocket is available in Firefox Accounts in U.S. English, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish.

Hibernia Networks, the provider of telecom services, announced the signing of a major deal with Zayo Group, a global provider of Bandwidth Infrastructure services, to leverage its Hibernia Express network. The new solution will provide 100G augmentation to Zayo’s transatlantic network of 82000+ miles across the United States and Europe.Hibernia Express’ low latency transatlantic cable network spanning more than 4600km of cable with 100Gbps transmission capacity by making use of TE SubCom’s C100 SLTE platform. Both companies were satisfied with the agreement.

Internap’s Colocation to Power Scanline VFX’s Peformance Intensive Visual Effects Workloads
Internap, the provider of highly flexible and scalable IT infrastructure solutions, announced that it’s high-density colocation and route-optimized Performance IP services have been hired by Scanline VFX, the visual effects company. Scanline’s performance, reliability and scalability needs have been met by Internap. Scanline VFX used to store its content across the Company’s four corporate data centers, however, these started hitting capacity issues and hence the Company started looking for an infrastructure provider that could meet its compute power and storage requirements under a single data center. nternap’s high-density data centers with power up to 18 kW helped Scanline meet its requirements. Both companies were satisfied with the agreement.
